BUILDING INDUSTRY PUSHES RUSSIA UP WORLD BANK’S EASE OF DOING BUSINESS RATING
Make sure you’re at MosBuild 2020 as Russia enters the top 30 countries for the first time, spearheaded by its building industry.
The World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Rating 2020, which was released in late October, has ranked Russia at 28th place out of 190 countries.
The rating takes into account 10 different parameters, and Russia’s place is determined by performance indicators of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Russia has raced up the ratings in recent years, from coming in at 123rd in 2011 to breaking into the top 30 by placing 28th in 2019.
Russia’s National News Service is attributing this progress to the country’s building industry, which has seen a high growth rate for the second year in a row.
According to Marat Khusnullin, Head of the Moscow Construction Complex, such progress in the ratings were in part due to the implementation of a whole range of measures that allow developers to build faster and easier in Moscow.
“Over the past two years, we’ve been very active in digitising the building permit process. So you can now submit all documents and receive permission electronically over a period of just five days. We’ve also optimised the process of connecting to utility networks,” Mr Khusnullin explained.

In view of this news, the 2020 construction season in Russia promises to be considerably active.
